Job Anniversaries

Aren Whitefeather 6 years ago 0

It is something of an achievement if you have had the same IG job for over a year.
What if when you have held the same job, any coloured job, for a year with no breaks, you get a small symbol in front of your name that day you have your anniversary? Just like when you have a cake on your birthday. It could help people stay motivated to keep their jobs or just an extra little thing as thanks for having the job for a year.

It could also be taken a step further and go like this:

1 year: Green heart

2 years: Teal heart

3 years: Gold heart

4 years: Blue heart

5 years: Forest green heart

(if anyone gets this far you know? Have it go on longer if wanted)

This is just an idea and the symbols could, of course, be changed or just be one symbol like a black star every anniversary. I just thought it could be fun if you'd had the job for so long like MoM's and HM's do, and we could appreciate them more! And maybe not forget our anniversaries like I recently did

Buy VIP via paysafecard

chrischi3 6 years ago updated by World of Potter 6 years ago 7 4 duplicates

Many people dont have paypal or a credit card with which to pay for VIP, especially seeing as many of those using the site are minors. Furthermore paysafecards are a safe and simple method to pay, as they can be bought pretty much everywhere (at least where i live) and work in such a way that no connection between the card and the costumers credit information is established (If any is involved at all that is).

Unfortunately paysafecard won't accept us as customer.

Graduated Hogwarts Staff Can Give Out House Points

Luthor Page 7 years ago updated by World of Potter 4 years ago 2

So the title pretty much explains it, but I think a really cool addition would be if Teachers, Heads of House, and the Headmaster, (And maybe any other graduated staff) could give out house points. We all know how nice it is when we are given praise for our work, so I think Graduated Staff should have this ability. For example, I, as a teacher, could be strolling through chat when I see one student help another student out with something. That beautiful act of helping brings tears to my eyes, so I immediately click the little gear by their name, where I find options for Timing Out and Deleting Messages. But there is a third option, an option to give points! I click that and type in my amount, which is for example 5 points. Then that user will be notified, maybe by chat dinging and saying "So and So just won 5 points for Ravenclaw!"

Of course their would be restrictions! Such as only 10 or 15 points can be given PER HOUR and each week there is a reset of 30 or something. This way it gives the students  recognition for their hard work, and encourages them further!

However, there would have to be some rules. For example, this wouldn't be just for people nice in chat, just people seen around the site who are just being good and doing good, helping out in topics, things like that. Also, maybe a way for if someone wants to give points, it'll make a popup appear on two peoples pages who are authorized to give points. Such as,

Luthor gives Joe 10 points for saying Hi

Then Holly and Mr Important, the Headmaster, both get popups saying "Luthor wants to award 10 points for saying Hi."

They can approve it, or anonymously reject it, deducting maybe 4 or 5 points from Luthors weekly point pay the next week, just for being a little unfair.

Hopefully this helps keep it bounded and helps out students!

Thanks!

Club notification

Steven 7 years ago updated by Vita Auden 7 years ago 1

I propose to receive a notification when a page is created or updated in a club to allow all members of the club to be aware of the modification. This idea would be mostly useful for Prefect, Assistant teacher, teacher clubs… more than for houses’ clubs (but could still be useful for that nonetheless)

Chapter for the books in the library

jenkatou 8 years ago updated by World of Potter 6 years ago 8

Hello there

I have the idea for the library. It will be nice if you can create a book and for the book you can create chapters. So the content has a structur and its much easier to find some points for homework in WoP

You can code the books in the library and create chapters or even pages by that (:

Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment and Potage's Cauldron (SHOPS)

Chloe Lovegood 8 years ago updated by Grayson Eli 2 years ago 5

Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment

Image 60

Basic Information:

Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment was a shop which sold items particular to the subject of Astronomy or higher up classes in Hogwarts. It sells items such as Telescopes and mainly focuses on the subjects of Astrological origins. Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment may also sell basic star layout maps, specialist books for such subjects and strange items only available in such a quirky shop. This may also cover Divination, as it includes the process of reading the stars for signs of the future (a skill highly based on knowledge of astronomy).

More information:

As Astronomy is an option on WoP, I believe it would be beneficial to have a place for students to by special equipment for that class just like they do for all the others. At the moment, a large telescope would be found in Hogsmeade. However, this does not follow the original theme of students buying most of their supplies from Diagon Alley. I believe a shop like this would add more to the creative community already in place.

For the first year of Astronomy, the items come as following:

Items:

  •  Astronomy

Usually courses require two items to start, especially if it is a higher year course. I believe this section could benefit from a student buying a "star map" or other item linked with Astronomy which could be bought at this shop idea. It would be an interesting item to be offered in such a shop and would suit the rather IG idea of such a teaching course.

Known equipment from this shot (Source: Harry Potter Wikia) is:

  • Brass Scales (3 Galleons)
  • Brass Telescope (5 Galleons)
  • Crystal Phials (7 Galleons)
  • Moon Chart (5 Galleons)
  • Silver Scales (7 Galleons)
  • Glass Phials (5 Galleons)
  • Star Chart (6 Galleons)
  • Globe of the Moon (13 Galleons)

Potage's Cauldron Shop

  Image 61

Basic Information:

Potage's Cauldron Shop was a shop in which students could buy specialist potion supplies (particularly as they continued higher up the school). There are many kinds of Cauldrons available to a student ranging in prices:

  • Pewter Cauldron, Size 2 (15 Galleons)
  • Brass Cauldron, Size 2 (21 Galleons)
  • Copper Cauldron, Size 2 (25 Galleons)
  • Gold Cauldron (UNKNOWN)
  • Silver Cauldron (UNKNOWN)
  • Pewter Cauldron (UNKNOWN)
  • Self Stirring Cauldron (UNKNOWN)

More information:

Pottermore regards cauldrons as a "Necessary tools for any witch or wizard who needs to make a potion", so I believe they  would add something to the site! As of now, I have not seen the availability of cauldrons on site. For further years in Hogwarts I believe it would be a perfect add on to the potion course as, at some point, a student will be required to have their own cauldron available. In the original books, Harry Potter bought his first cauldron in his first year.

Hope you like these ideas, please let me know either way~ :D

Private topics(password protected)

World of Potter 8 years ago updated 6 years ago 11

Some times, users would like to interactive with only a couple of other users. Right now it has to be done in owls.

The idea is to be able to add a password when creating a topic, so only people you choose, can enter the topic.

Pros:

* Users can interact in topics, instead of owls.

* Topics will not get "ruined" by other users

Cons:

* Boards might get bloated with locked topics

Custom Wands

Dean Crockord 8 years ago updated by Abigail Baines 8 years ago 3

Hello all, and thank you for taking the time to read this.

I have seen many ideas on having a "sorted" wand, however I would like to ask about custom wands. While there are many nice wand options, since this group appears to be massive, odds are many characters will be developed and that the wand choices, while impressive would not appeal to everyone. I was wondering if it would be possible to have a custom wand available in the shop, leaving the current wands as they are for those who would want them. While I understand that getting something that makes everyone happy is impossible, but the idea could help with wands at least a small amount. I was thinking of having the wand cost just as much as the current most expensive wand which I think is in the range of 367 galleons. Buying this wand could give drop down menus for the wood, core, and length.

Or it could be that each core, wood, and length is assigned a galleon value for someone who would want two cores, like the Fwooper and hippogriff feather wand already in the store. This way people could mix and match all of the various woods (Ash, vine, alder, beech, etc) and all of the cores and lengths to have a wand that fits their wizard as much as possible.

Once again than you for your time

I always see the intro

Squirrel Jo 8 years ago updated by World of Potter 7 years ago 7

Each time I go to the housepoints, I see the tabs for beginners (like : "here you can see the points for each house", "here you can see the rank of the user"...).

Same when I grade HW or when I attend class...

Is there a way to avoid it, a box to tick, a setting to set ? And am I the only one who has this problem ?

Block Users

Agnes Dupont 8 years ago updated by World of Potter 7 years ago 7 2 duplicates

If someone is being annoying there should be an option to block that user. One then wouldn't see owls from them or receive friend requests

Answer

If you are having problems with users that you feel that ignoring their comments is not enough you need to speak to the Headmaster or MoM of the site about the issues you are having.
