Marauders Map in alphabetical order
Or some other logical order. Because when you're searching the map for a certain user, there now is no order to the map at all (at least not what I can see) and when there's 80+ users online it's easy to miss the user you're looking for.
Icon when drafts are saved in a lesson
Just like when we have an icon when a piece of homework has been submitted, it would be extremely helpful to have an icon when there's a draft saved in the lesson. Like an X or an -, a pen or a dot, whatever you can think of!
It would be really helpful if you need to find pieces you're working to finish them instead of opening all of the lessons before finally finding them!
error message
Hello there!
Today a person asked me why the site was offline for more than a week. (spoiler: It wasn't).
She just had this error message the whole time, that something went wrong.
So I thought about what could be changed.
My two suggestions are:
1.) Make the font better and immediately readable (e.g. font color white)
2.) Add another sentence "Please try strong refresh (Ctrl + F5) or clear your browser's cookies and cache".
Justification:
1.) Currently you have to mark the corresponding text with the mouse pointer to see it at all. With a white font color especially new users will not be confused anymore ("Why do I see a black page without text?").
2.) In most cases strong refresh and deleting the browser data is effective and fixes the error message. Last week someone could not do the test of the sorting hat because he got such an (for him) invisible error message. Only after solving the problem in the chat he could enter WoP correctly and be sorted into a house.
I'm not sure if all (new) users come into the chat with their problem right away, or wait a week or leave the site as described above.
Both suggestions could contribute to less confusion, but the users know immediately what they can do and this reduce the work of the staff.
Of course, users could also give these instructions in the chat, but there is not always someone present who knows this.
Club Application Notification
Sometimes when owning a club it can be annoying to have to enter it, go through admin and let users in, without a notification that they have applied. I myself own a work club (prefects/cabin leaders) and don't necessarily have a problem as when I accept someone into the position I also accept them into the club (although I do sometimes forget), but a user-based club wouldn't be very efficient.
For example, someone might own a "long hair, don't care" club (sorry, first thing that came to mind!) where only users with long haired faceclaims are allowed in. However, they have no idea when someone has applied for the club and have to manually check to see if anyone has applied.
If there was a notification, either via notifications or Owls/PMs then it would be a lot easier and quicker to know when someone has applied. Positives of this would include:
- Lass hassle for the club owner
- Quicker entry for the applicants
- More freedom to check applications for the owner
I'd love to hear some more opinions/suggestions down below if you have any ♥
Notice box for individual houses
Almost like an addition to the overall notice box out to the left indicating f.ex. clubs searching for members (jobs) it would instead be for the individual house (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff etc.) able to tell which teams in the house are searching for members or just advertising for upcoming events.
It would make it noticable right away and maybe be instead of some 'common owls'.
No more ads in articles
It can really mess with the code of an article when a big ad appears in the middle of it. I get that you need ads to keep WoP running, but it would be great if you could reconsider the position of this one. Or make it at least one that fills the entire area, from side to side, so that no coding is squeezed inbetween that little space. Thanks! ^^
Recruit a friend/s rewards
A area to send a customized email invitation to your friends. Once they accept and create an account, Then you get given items In-Game for example Galleons,Unique Items e.g Pet's or broom or a Goblin sword from Borgin and Burkes. This would be like many MMORPG games, Like World of Warcraft which has a recruit a friend system, This will encourage users to share with their friends so they can earn rewards. This could be done by sending a certain amount of recruit a friend emails then if for example 10 make an account you get reward/s. (For example this is how WoW use theirs http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/game/recruit-a-friend/)
Cake shop in Diagon Alley
I think this would be a great shop to open in Diagon alley, having every type of cake you can think of.
House tournaments
Kind of like the triwizard tournament, but since people from sites from other countries most likely won't have perfect English, this could happen within the site. Every Head of House selects a champion - or the Head can choose to let the students vote - and then they compete with the other champions. There could be different tasks related to the site, and this idea has mostly been taken from Alex Thomas, but just made more do-able :)
Exam Results in Admin
I think it would be very beneficial for teachers to have an archive for exams as well. They can currently see the homework that has been made, but not the results of the exams. If they could, that would be a good way for them to know what questions may be a little too hard (or too easy), and make those adjustments for the following year. In addition, they could give out a little something to the people that passed their exams if they wanted to!
