I feel like this will be hard to implement, because there needs to be built a lot of logic and a lot of calls to the database. From the way the site works at the moment I think it will be hard to get it to be specific from the user that sent the message, as I think the pings are coded to fit the user that sees it. If one person is called something and another person is called the same, there needs to be built a lot of logic to make it so the correct people get tagged.

It is a thing that happens sometimes, but hasn't happened for quite a while.

This is due to the facts that some people will end up not being allowed to enter these forums. I would hate to press a topic on the map and then be met with: You can't be here.

Also I think it will be a lot of having to take into account clubs, because management club topics should not be shown on the map and I have a feeling that it isn't as simple to just flip a switch, as I think the commonroom forum works like club forums.

I get the idea, but it makes week 12 such a weird thing with functionality of the site. I do agree that it makes it easier to roleplay summer and exams

So you want the site to be even worse for people with smaller screens? Because it is already crammed for a lot of people. Also are you suggesting that there should be a VIP only chat?

I just feel like it isn't something that fits with the way the chat works and it would need a completely different design for it to work.

That is not really what the site is about and seems very much like too much unnecessary work.

None of that is where the problem lies. It lies with access to stuff, there would need to be an equivalent to Graduate in order to get the site features.
