I once had ghost owls after sending a multi-owl to a club I was in back when I was management. An owl from a 'deleted' user appeared - it was the multi-owl - and clicking it removed it. I'm not sure if that's the case here, too, but maybe there's a little bug somewhere that will go away if you open all your owls again?

Have this problem on quite a few sites, quite annoying. Can't seem to get it to go away either.

Try to delete ur cookies maybe ^^ Can't promise it will work, but it is worth a try

This has worked in the past for me, but I recently went through every single owl I had but to no avail :(
With the new "mark all as read" button this should be fixed (:
